Hey there!

In a culture increasingly tipped towards productivity, distraction, and a breathtakingly fast pace, Jessica offers a place to slow down and be with yourself. This slowing down can be a challenge, but it’s essential to developing a more conscious, compassionate relationship with yourself— often leading to more fulfilling relationships and a more visceral sense of connection to life. Jessica believes a strong, safe, collaborative bond between therapist and client is one of the surest environments for this process to come alive and unfold. She believes that emotional and psychological symptoms, while often a source of discomfort or pain, also have meaning and something to tell us if we listen.

Jessica's approach to therapy is empathic, direct, and creative. She brings a warm presence and non-judgmental curiosity to sessions. Jessica invests in helping you make meaning of your past and present, and to alleviate suffering by being with it together. She aims to help you rediscover your own creative capacities, intuition, and sense of choice, so that stuck wheels can begin to turn again.

Jessica has worked with diverse adult clients on a variety of therapeutic concerns, including anxiety, depression, childhood and attachment trauma, interpersonal boundaries, relationship issues, existential/spiritual concerns, and how personal suffering intersects with systems of power. She has a special interest in motherhood, perinatal adjustment, and other stage-of-life transitions. She enjoys working with those whose self-worth feels overly defined by productivity or taking care of others, and with “highly sensitive people.” Before becoming a therapist, she earned a PhD and MFA in poetry and has had experiences as a poet, a teacher, and an editor. Her background in poetry makes her a good fit for clients who are writers or artists, and those who want to revive or develop a creative practice as a means of reflection and meaning-making.

Jessica is a licensed graduate professional counselor (LGPC) in DC and Maryland. Her master’s-level training in counseling at Pacifica Graduate Institute was grounded in depth psychology, including psychoanalytic and Jungian theory. She’s worked as an individual therapist at Mary’s Center, a community health center in Washington, DC, as well as completed a 2-year certificate program in psychoanalytic studies through the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis. While she is working toward full licensure, Jessica is being supervised by Raquel Carrera Adams, LCPC, LPC
