Hey there!
For Stacey, therapy is about getting to know one’s own mind and deepening your sense of self. Foundational to her practice is how she invites you to join her in curiosity and compassion to take the steps needed for growth. She listens with care and openness to the unique concerns of each client, providing space for whatever arises during a session and welcoming the full range of emotions.
Relationship issues, questions about life purpose, and struggles with depression and anxiety are concerns that Stacey tackles with her clients. The work of investigating our inner worlds, or what psychodynamic therapists call the “unconscious,” opens up the possibility for transformation within a person. Through empathic listening and an insight-oriented approach, Stacey helps guide you toward greater self-acceptance and emotional awareness.
Stacey is trained psychodynamically and her practice is informed by psychoanalytic theory. In training she gravitated towards this approach because of its depth and usefulness. Stacey has explored many theories over the years, and has found the psychoanalytic/psychodynamic modality the most expansive and truth-seeking. In turn, clients have found working in this way to be very meaningful and hopeful.
Stacey received her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. She has worked with diverse populations going through a variety of life stages, including exploring sexual/gender identity, transitioning into adulthood, retirement, and elder adulthood. Stacey is practicing as a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) in Washington, DC, under the supervision of Raquel Carrera Adams, LCPC, LPC.
